Meet the Artist

Meet Rebecca

Rebecca is first and foremost a mother to 4 tiny(ish) humans and 5 furry felines. Rebecca's weekdays are filled with her work in digital marketing, where she channels her other passion – social media. When she's not working, she can be found spending time with kids, scrolling TikTok, or in her office making art. Rebecca recently reignited her artistic journey after watching other people paint on social media, when she realized she could be doing that too instead of just watching.

Rebecca has always had a passion for art. Her grandfather, a CAD teacher, introduced her to different shapes and perspectives. Her Uncle, an architect, would often have small model buildings or drawings around. This early exposure sparked an interest in buildings and architecture, leading her to spend hours drawing endless floorplans for imaginary hotels and homes at very young ages. Eventually, she developed a love for cartoons, which became her primary focus through her young school days.

Her interest in photography grew during high school, where she was often found in the darkroom during her spare time. She also used high school art class to explore various art mediums, solidifying her belief that art was her true passion. However, after high school, Rebecca pursued a degree in Political Science at York University, driven by the notion that lawyers make money while artists do not.

During her time at university, she had two children. After graduating, she realized being at home was more valuable than law school, and spent the next 10 years as a stay at home mom, having two other children along the way. As a stay-at-home mom, she would dabble in the arts in her spare time. Ranging from building dollhouses, making clay miniatures, silly doodles or knitting diaper covers.

It wasn't until her children grew older that she started to pursue art more seriously, and in 2024, she decided to share her work with a larger audience.

Rebecca works in a variety of media, including digital art, with a particular fondness for plain ink and oil pastels. She also enjoys working with watercolours and acrylics.

Rebecca believes that art has the power to evoke emotions, tell stories, and inspire change. Through her art, Rebecca aims to share the beauty she sees in every day life with others. Rebecca is always open to connecting with fellow artists, and supports artists at all stages of their creative journeys.
